Biography
Hello! My name is Tyler Satterly, and I am a Human Factors Engineer working in Texas.
Human Factors in Healthcare
I began my career in academia as a Research Coordinator at the Institute for Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuEST), working on a research team that focused on diagnostic errors. During my time on the team, I worked on several research efforts including a systematic literature review of patient safety dashboard usage, development of requirements for electronic health records, and design of an integrated inbox for user alerts within the electronic health record system.
Aerospace Human Factors Engineering
I have worked on several NASA programs as a Human Factors Engineer.
I provided Human Factors guidance for design and developmental testing, as well as verification testing for a range of Human Factors requirements on the Orion vehicle for Artemis missions.
I worked on the xEVAS spacesuit concept to develop a plan to perform Human Error Analysis on tasks that crew must perform while performing extravehicular activity. I also provided human factors expertise during the design of the suit to increase usability and meet human factors requirements.
I currently lend Human Factors expertise to several systems on the HALO Module of the Lunar Gateway project. I work with several subsystems and components, including the HALO Air Revitalization System in the Environmental Control and Life Support System, to improve usability and accessibility of crucial hardware for the flight crew. I also lead the Human-Centered Task and Error Analysis, which evaluates all crew tasks for consequences of potential human-based errors and develops parameters used in mission planning.
